Ross Bell
Silver Pride Advocacy Network
My academic background includes graduate and postgraduate degrees in bioethics, social work, and education.
Since retiring from public hospitals, I have worked as a Diversional Therapist in aged care, specialising in supporting consumers with dementia in secure units.
My primary professional focus is on ensuring the safety and well-being of these consumers. I have concentrated on enhancing services by incorporating core Australian aged care reform documents—specifically the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards and the Charter of Aged Care Rights—into both theory and practice.
While policy recognises that older people with diverse sexual orientations and gender identities need responsible and respectful support, lived experience shows there is still a considerable amount of work to be done.
