Ageing Australia to pilot community learning hubs in regional Queensland

Ageing Australia is proud to welcome funding from the Albanese and Crisafulli Governments to pilot new community learning hubs in regional Queensland, supporting stronger training pathways for the aged care sector’s workforce.

Through Queensland’s TAFE Centres of Excellence, Ageing Australia has been engaged to deliver a pilot program focused on improving access to high quality, locally based aged care training in regional communities.

The project will test a community learning hub model that brings together aged care providers, training organisations and local stakeholders to create flexible, practical and sector informed learning opportunities. The project aims to address workforce shortages by making it easier for people in regional Queensland to enter and remain in the aged care sector.

The funding forms part of more than $2.5 million in applied research grants awarded through Queensland’s TAFE Centres of Excellence, supporting innovative vocational education and training solutions for nationally critical industries, including health and aged care.

The TAFE Centres of Excellence are jointly funded initiatives established to address skills shortages and secure a pipeline of skilled workers. The applied research grants focus on practical, evidence-based approaches that can be scaled across the vocational education and training system.

Ageing Australia will work closely with TAFE Queensland, aged care providers and community partners throughout the pilot. Findings from the project will inform future training models and broader workforce strategies for the aged care sector.

Ageing Australia looks forward to contributing to the TAFE Centres of Excellence program and to supporting stronger, more sustainable aged care training outcomes for Queensland and beyond.
