ACCPA welcomes new funding for aged care, dementia research

ACCPA has welcomed the $25 million for dementia, ageing and aged care research announced today by the Albanese Government.

ACCPA CEO Tom Symondson says the potentially life-changing benefits of research and innovation to assist older people to live healthy, active lives cannot be underestimated.

“Australians are living longer and well beyond their retirement years and research to support innovation and understanding of how we can improve the lives of older people is crucial,” Mr Symondson says.

“Research to better understand dementia is critical as it will improve the lives of those older people who will need support either at home or in residential care at some time in their lives.

“The enthusiasm and passion among the nearly 1,800 delegates at last week’s ACCPA inaugural National Conference in Adelaide was evidence that aged care providers are ready and willing to work to improve the quality of aged care.

“The 160 exhibitors at the conference Trade Hall showed off the diversity of innovation and ingenuity as well as the drive of those involved in the aged care sector to find ways to help older people live their best lives.”
