With Australia’s aged care industry tackling major reform and continuing upheaval from the pandemic, leading players in the aged care sector will come together at Australia’s largest aged services event, National Conference, in Adelaide next month.
With the theme ‘It’s Up to Us’ the inaugural Aged & Community Care Providers Association (ACCPA) National Conference on 12-14 October will feature three days of global perspectives, best-practice keynotes, and interactive, thought-provoking discussions.
ACCPA Interim CEO Paul Sadler said the ACCPA National Conference presents the aged care sector with the first opportunity to gather together at ACCPA’s new annual event where they can share their views of the reform task that lies ahead.
“The aged care sector has been dealing with enormous challenges presented by the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety and its wide-ranging recommendations for reform, and the COVID-19 pandemic, now in its third year,” ACCPA Interim CEO Paul Sadler said.
“Our National Conference theme, ‘It’s Up to Us’, recognises that each of us must own the transformation of the aged services industry and put into practice the change we want to see so that we can raise the standard of what we do to the highest level.”
Among the speaker highlights are Human Rights Commissioner Lorraine Finlay, former Aged Care Minister, and Australia’s first Indigenous federal Minister, Ken Wyatt AM and Interim CEO of the Care Economy CRC Carmela Sergi. Attendees will have a choice of working breakfast events featuring key speakers.
Leading Federal Government and Opposition representatives will feature as will key aged care sector leaders from ACCPA and major aged care providers. There will also be speeches from financial services, academia, the health, and aged care sector, and from within federal government including Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner Janet Anderson PSM.
Over three days, conference sessions will focus on the consumer voice, palliative care, sustainability and finance, technology, wellness and reablement, workforce, reform, and transformation. The conference will also feature a trade exhibition and a full day event – Emerging Leadership Experience – for aspiring aged services leaders.
Mr Sadler said attendance at the ACCPA National Conference is a must for anyone serious about the future of aged services in Australia.
“It’s up to us to enable consumers, deliver quality care, provide transparency, build trust, improve governance, attract qualified workers, lift standards, innovate, and secure our livelihoods,” Mr Sadler said.
