Regional and remote aged care providers in Queensland now have access to a new suite of free workforce planning tools designed to strengthen and sustain the sector.
Developed by Ageing Australia in partnership with the Queensland Government, the resources are part of the Grow Your Own Regional Workforce Program, which supports aged care organisations to attract, retain and plan for a skilled and resilient workforce.
The new resources include:
- Far North Queensland Aged Care Industry Workforce Development Plan – a strategic framework to guide workforce growth and capability development across the region.
- Workforce Planning Connect Toolkit – a step-by-step guide to effective workforce planning for current and future needs.
- Workforce Planning Workbook – a practical tool to help organisations design a customised workforce plan.
These free resources describe practical measures and easy-to-use tools tailored to build the capability of the regional aged care workforce and help aged care providers address ongoing workforce challenges.
“Aged care providers in regional and remote areas face unique challenges in attracting and retaining skilled staff,” said Belinda Allen, General Manager Services and Sector Capacity at Ageing Australia.
“These resources give providers the data, insights and practical steps they need to plan for the future and continue delivering high-quality care to older Queenslanders.”
The Regional Workforce Program is part of the Queensland Government’s broader efforts to build a skilled, sustainable workforce across key industries, with a particular focus on supporting essential community services like aged care. Ageing Australia received $200,000 in Queensland Government funding to deliver the project.
