Ageing Australia’s Annual General Meeting and Board Director elections are just around the corner.
This page brings together the key dates, documents and information members need to participate in the nomination and election process.

2026 Director elections: Call for nominations
On behalf of the Ageing Australia Board, we are calling for nominations for three (3) Elected Director positions.

The Western Australia/Northern Territory position will become vacant following Clare Grieveson’s early retirement from the Board at the 2026 AGM. In accordance with Ageing Australia’s Constitution, the successful candidate will serve the balance of the existing term, concluding at the end of the 2027 AGM.
All three positions will commence following the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in November 2026. If you are a Chief Executive Officer (or equivalent) or Board Member of an Ageing Australia member organisation in Queensland, South Australia or Western Australia and are committed to shaping the future of ageing and aged care across Australia, the board welcomes your nomination.
The current Elected Directors, Sue Cooke (Queensland) and Jane Pickering (South Australia), are eligible to nominate for re-election for a further three-year term in accordance with Ageing Australia’s Constitution. Sue Cooke (Queensland) will not be nominating for re-election.
Board Directors – individually and collectively – play a key role in the success of our association and contribute to both Ageing Australia’s performance and our sector leadership. Ageing Australia Members elect Directors through the formal voting process, which opens when the Notice of AGM is issued.

Please note: The Elected Director Nomination form must be downloaded and opened on your computer before completing, as it requires two (2) signatures. This form cannot be completed or signed directly in your web browser.
What is the role of an Elected Director?
The Ageing Australia Board comprises Elected and Appointed Directors.
While Elected Director positions are linked to particular jurisdictions, all Directors must act in the best interests of Ageing Australia as a whole.
Elected Directors:
- contribute member, sector and jurisdictional perspectives to Board discussions
- help set Ageing Australia’s strategic direction
- oversee organisational performance, finances, risk and governance
- exercise legal and governance responsibilities under the Corporations Act 2001 and Ageing Australia’s Constitution.
Who is eligible to nominate for the available Elected Director positions?
To be eligible, nominees must:
- be a Chief Executive Officer (or equivalent) or Board Member of an Ageing Australia Member organisation with at least 50 per cent of their operations in the state/territory they are nominating for
- be a 2026-27 financial member at the time of nomination
- be eligible to act as a Director under the Corporations Act 2001, the ACNC Act and the Ageing Australia Constitution
- not be disqualified or otherwise prevented from managing a corporation or acting as a responsible person of a registered charity
- submit the completed Elected Director Nomination Form and written consent.
Board expectations for nominees
Nominees are required to have formal endorsement of their organisation’s Board in order for their nomination to be accepted.

- The election results will be formally declared at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), scheduled to be held virtually at 2pm AEDT Monday 16 November 2026. (Further details will follow in October, via the Notice of AGM).
- Queensland and South Australia Elected Directors serve a three-year term, concluding at the 2029 AGM. The Western Australia/Northern Territory Elected Director will serve the balance of the current term, from the conclusion of the 2026 AGM to the conclusion of the 2027 AGM.
What are Members’ Voting Rights?
- Nominated Voting Representatives (NVRs) will receive candidate information, voting instructions and secure access to the electronic election portal from Vero Voting, Ageing Australia’s independent Returning Officer.
- Voting will take place by secure online ballot, administered by Vero Voting, from 19 October 2026 and will close at 5pm AEDT on 30 October 2026.
- NVRs will be asked to vote in the Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia/Northern Territory Elected Director elections. Partial voting cannot be accepted.
- Voting will be conducted using a preferential voting system. NVRs should follow the instructions provided in the voting portal when ranking candidates in order of preference.
